Spain's national anthem has no official lyrics—which means it can never be sung as intended.

"Marcha de Granaderos" (1770) is purely instrumental with no official lyrics. This is because Spain can't agree on lyrics due to regional divisions and historical trauma. Regional governments have proposed alternatives, but adopting any would offend the others. So Spain's anthem exists in a state of perpetual incompleteness—a national symbol that was never allowed to be complete.
